How we approach a HP PageWide XL printhead
On PageWide XL the printhead sits in a fixed bar across the full media width, so a failed nozzle row prints on every metre of output — there is no carriage motion to average the defect away.
The platform runs its own automated recovery. If those cycles have been running repeatedly without fixing the fault, that is diagnostic information in itself: it points away from simple drying and towards a supply-side or hardware fault.
We handle both ink supply and head service for PageWide XL. Where the economics favour it we say so plainly — on some faults, service is not the cheaper route and we will tell you that.

The printer keeps running printhead recovery but the line is still missing. What next?
Repeated automatic recovery that does not clear a fault usually means the problem is not dried ink. At that point continuing to cycle recovery wastes ink and time. Send us the diagnostic print and we will identify what is actually failing.
Can the HP PageWide XL printhead be repaired or does it need replacing?
Both happen. Blockage, dried ink, contamination and air-lock recover in a large share of cases; electrical or physical damage to the die does not. The nozzle test print tells the two apart before any money is spent.
