HSA SPD-1175 Printhead Repair & Nozzle Recovery

InkBags repairs the printhead in the HSA SPD-1175. Single-pass digital printing system built on the HP FI-1000 for inline coding, marking and packaging print. Recovery is realistic when the fault is dried ink, blockage, contamination or air-lock; it is not when a die segment is electrically dead or the nozzle plate is damaged. Send a nozzle test print and we tell you which one you have before quoting.

HSA SPD-1175 printhead specification

Parts and recovery procedures do not transfer between printhead families, even when both are HP thermal inkjet — so the engine inside the machine is the first thing to establish.

What printhead failure looks like on a SPD-1175

  • Missing print band appearing on an inline production line, stopping the whole line rather than just the printer.
  • Nozzle dropouts after the line has been stopped mid-job with the head uncapped.
  • Contamination picked up from the conveyed product rather than from the substrate itself.

Photograph the nozzle test print before running any more recovery cycles. Repeated aggressive purging on a head that has already dried out can turn a recoverable fault into a replacement.

How we approach a SPD-1175 printhead

On an inline system the printer is not a standalone device — a head fault stops the production line, so downtime cost dominates the repair decision. We scope the work around that: what can be recovered fast, and what genuinely needs a replacement head.

Inline installations frequently stop mid-job for reasons unrelated to the printer, leaving the head uncapped for long periods. That is the single most common recoverable cause of nozzle loss on this class of machine.

We look at the line environment as part of diagnosis — airborne dust and product debris on a packaging line reach the nozzle plate in ways that do not happen on a tabletop press.

What the service covers

Diagnosis

Failure-mode identification from the nozzle test print, plus a straight answer on whether recovery is realistic.

Nozzle recovery

Deep flushing of the ink path and restoration of blocked nozzle areas, matched to the failure mode.

Ink system service

Capping, wiping and supply-side inspection — the parts that usually caused the failure in the first place.

Replacement printheads are available where recovery is not viable, along with original and compatible ink, so a machine that cannot be recovered does not sit idle waiting on a separate supplier.

Pricing and turnaround are quoted per case, because both depend on the failure mode and on whether the ink delivery system needs work as well.

HSA SPD-1175 printhead repair FAQ

The line stopped for an hour and now nozzles are missing. Is that permanent?

Usually not. Ink drying in the nozzles during an uncapped stop is one of the most recoverable failure modes. The important thing is not to keep running recovery cycles blindly — repeated aggressive purging on a dried head can do more harm than the original stoppage.

Can you advise on preventing this rather than just repairing it?

Yes. Most inline head failures we see trace back to the capping and stop behaviour of the line, not to the head itself. We include that in the service report.

Can the HSA SPD-1175 printhead be repaired or does it need replacing?

Both happen. Blockage, dried ink, contamination and air-lock recover in a large share of cases; electrical or physical damage to the die does not. The nozzle test print tells the two apart before any money is spent.

How much does HSA SPD-1175 printhead repair cost?

It is quoted per case, because the cost depends on the failure mode and on whether the ink delivery system also needs service. Send the nozzle test and you get a scope and a price up front.
